Forms are due Oct 3 for the Jazz Festival. They can be dropped off at my house or mailed on Oct. 3.

Calendar of Events - 2013

All meetings are held at Saied Music Store South (71st & Mingo). If BA schools are cancelled on a meeting day due to bad weather, the meeting will be cancelled.

What is BAMTA?

The Broken Arrow Music Teachers Association was organized on September 18, 1980, with 17 members. Meetings were held four times a year on the third Thursday of the month. The first BAMTA sponsored contest and concert were held in November at the First Baptist Church with 198 students participating.
In 1983, a category for voice students was added to the Spring Hymn Competition. The practice of having a luncheon meeting in May was begun in 1984. In the same year, a committee was formed to handle the rapidly growing twice yearly contests.
Over the years, meetings have been held at the First Baptist Church, Broken Arrow School of Fine Arts, Saied Music Store, Arrow Heights Baptist Church and Saied Music Store South. By 1987, the offices of Historian, Publicity and Parliamentarian were added. Seven committees were formed: Nominating, Contest, Theory, Library, By-laws, Rules & Ethics and Scholarship.
The combined Christmas/Hymn Festival first began in December of 1992. the name was changed to "Holiday Festival" in 1998. In 2007 BAMTA sponsored a Monster Concert. In 2009, a Jazz, Rags, Blues and Boogie Festival will be held in October.
In 1994, Manda Higgins was our first BAMTA College Scholarship recipient. By 1999, membership had grown to over 30 with over 600 piano and voice students participating in our events.
